We are a tax exempt 501 (C) (3) community based, non-profit organization, founded in 1973 in response to the needs of women caught up in a changing society. We are staffed by paid and volunteer professionals who help women help themselves--to develop the self-confidence, skills, knowledge and experience they need make independent life decisions, to provide for themselves and their families and to become productive members of society. Consumers of our services include single parents, displaced homemakers and dislocated workers. We serve mostly low and moderate income populations through many programs and services that help women and their families move toward economic self sufficiency. Some of our services include Shared Housing for One Parent Families, Lawyer Consultations, Career Counseling, Office Technology Training, Office Support Training, Job Search, Business Counseling, Hispanic Services, English as a Second Language, educational and practical workshops in a supportive environment, and referrals to other helping organizations when appropriate. We receive federal, state, county, local funding and depend on individual contributions to help pay for products and services not covered by grants, but necessary for the support of The Women's Center Building and it's services to the community.
